IUCN Conservation Genetics Specialist Group

http://www.cgsg.uni-freiburg.de/

The Conservation Genetics Specialist Group (CGSG) is a Specialist Group of the Species Survival Commission (SSC) of IUCN. The CGSG, co-chaired by Prof Mike Bruford and Prof Gernot Segelbacher, acts as focal point for the conservation genetics community.

They provide advice on genetic policy and management for the IUCN, and expert knowledge and assistance to other IUCN specialist groups. The CGSG’s role is to encourage research into the genetics of threatened species by promoting genetic principles as underpinning endangered species management, fostering collaborations and providing guidelines for best practice in research methods.
